West Valley Arts Council Seeks Student Applicants
Award-Winning Gallery 37 Summer Apprentice Program
West Valley, AZ (February 19, 2016) – The West Valley Arts Council (WVAC) is currently seeking student applicants for this exciting 6 week apprenticeship. West Valley student’s ages 15-18 yrs. who have an interest in the arts and are able to complete work within a specific timeline are encouraged to apply, deadline: April 14, 2016 by 4pm. Selected student apprentices will receive a stipend for their time.
Gallery 37 is WVAC’s award-winning youth arts apprenticeship program. Pairing art apprentices ages 15 to 18 years old with professional artists to design, develop and install permanent pieces of public art for display in the West Valley. This program is led by an expert team of master artists who provide the necessary training and support in each phase of the project. Since 2001, more than 100 valley students have participated in Gallery 37.
Gallery 37 began in Chicago, Illinois as a city beautification project of Block 37 that included the creation of a summer arts camp designed to revitalize the immediate community while providing job training and arts education to Chicago’s youth. Since 1991, Gallery 37 has expanded to a nation-wide program to include more than 24 U.S. cities as well as the UK and Australia.
